ABOUT US
A suicide prevention charity offering free, confidential emotional support for adults in Essex.
OUR STORY
Reach Out for Mental Health was founded in 2016 by Kirsty after her colleague died by suicide. That loss sparked a determination to create a space where people could reach out before reaching crisis point.
We believe that you shouldn't have to wait until you're at breaking point to get support. Too many people fall through the gaps — not ill enough for secondary care, but quietly not coping. We exist to fill that gap.
Today, we serve around 15 clients per month across Essex through our counselling, coffee groups, and telephone befriending services. Every person we support is treated with compassion, respect, and without judgement.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
CONFIDENTIAL
What you share stays with us. We create a safe space where you can speak freely.
COMPASSIONATE
We meet you where you are, without judgement. Your feelings are valid.
SAFE
Clear boundaries, ethical practice, and trained support. You're in safe hands.

OUR TEAM
We're a small but dedicated team of staff, volunteer befrienders, and student counsellors — all united by a commitment to supporting people who are quietly struggling.
Our student counsellors are level 4+ and professionally supervised. Our befrienders are trained to listen without judgement. Together, we create a network of support across Essex.
